Royal Iris

$5.99

My grandmother was a passionate gardener who spent long hours cultivating what today would be called a cottage style garden. Back in the 70’s though, it was a bit too wild and rambling for the average person’s taste. Her flower beds weren’t color coordinated and neatly trimmed.

While I definitely did not inherit her love of digging in the dirt, I did learn to identify flowers and love their brilliant colors.

Let’s just say I’m a paper gardener. My garden is set into frames and never goes out of season. I think she would like my wall gardens.

“Royal Iris” was originally drawn for a floral watercoloring class I taught back in 2016. I’ve updated the digital stamp and sized it for an 8.5x11” project. You can go larger if you’d like— I usually do.

The colored sample shown here is in watercolor and it’s interesting to see the similarities between my watercolor technique and my marker technique. Everything here can easily be duplicated in marker.

This image is Ideal for Copic Marker, colored pencil, and obviously watercolor. Illustrated by Amy Shulke.
